
The MSJC women's basketball team went on the road Wednesday night and easily defeated College of the Desert 107-63 to stay unbeaten in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.
The Eagles built a comfortable 50-28 lead by halftime and continued to pull away in the third and fourth quarters. MSJC shot over 49% from the field in the win and forced the Roadrunners into 29 turnovers in the contest.
Five Eagles ended the night in double figures with Laisha Lazu recording a monster game with 30 points and 21 rebounds in just 25 minutes of playing time. Kohen Marshall and Princess McCauley both added 16 points a piece with McCauley also pulling down 8 boards. Vika Afungia had a double double for MSJC scoring 11 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Drasoni Kyles also reached double figures with 13 points and Melissa Castro had a team high 7 assists.
The win was the Eagles' eighth in a row and improved their overall record to 12-3 while improving to 3-0 in IEAC action. MSJC will be on the road for their next two games when they travel to Barstow on Saturday and San Bernardino Valley next Wednesday. The Eagles' next home game will be on Saturday January 18th when they host Cerro Coso at 1 pm.
