
The MSJC women's basketball team continued their march through the Inland Empire Athletic Conference as they picked up two more wins this week to improve to 11-0 in league play and 20-3 overall.
Saturday the Eagles traveled to Joshua Tree where they defeated Copper Mountain College 66-24. MSJC led from the start building leads of 18-5 after the first quarter and 37-10 at halftime. The Eagles cruised to the finish line as they did not allow the Fighting Cacti to score more than eight points in any quarter.
Drasoni Kyles led a balanced offensive scoring attack with a game high 16 points, she also had 4 assists. Laisha Lazu had a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while both Vika Afungia and Melissa Castro had 8 points each.
The Eagles were scheduled to play College of the Desert on Wednesday, but the team was awarded a forfeit when the Roadrunners cancelled the game due to not having enough healthy players.
MSJC, who has now won 16 games in a row, will be back in action at home on Saturday when they host Barstow at 1 pm.
