Soccer Team Wins Two With Back to Back Shut Outs

The MSJC women's soccer team won back to back home matches last week as they shut out Grossmont 2-0 and Imperial Valley 4-0 in San Jacinto.

On Tuesday the Eagles scored a goal in each half as they blanked Grossmont.  Athziri Beltran got the scoring started in the 27th minute as she scored on an assist from Alexis Salgado.  In the second half a goal from Chloe Baeza made it 2-0 in the 65th minute.  Aaliyah Sims picked up the assist on Baeza's goal.  Nicole Molina made 3 saves in goal for the Eagles as she played 70 minutes of the match, Andrea Landeros added one more save in her 20 minutes in goal.

Friday the Eagles jumped out to a very quick lead as they scored in the 2nd minute of the match on their way to a 4-0 win over Imperial Valley at Carl Quandt Stadium.  The opening goal came from Reanna Gonzales off a corner kick from Areli Romero.  MSJC would tack on another goal before halftime as Baeza scored on an assist from Karyme Mendoza in the 27th minute.  The Eagles would go on to score two more in the second half to pull away as Mendoza scored in the 69th minute with help from Sims, and Nadia Dogan added the final goal of the day with an assist from Mendoza in the 75th minute.  Molina played the first half in goal making 3 saves, before being relieved by both Landeros who made a save and Perla Fuentes in the second half as the three goal keepers combined for another shut out.

MSJC is now 2-1 on the season and are on the road this week for a pair of non-conference matches.  Tuesday September 6th the Eagles travel to San Diego Miramar for 2 pm match and Friday they will visit Santa Ana College at 3 pm.  MSJC's next home match is scheduled for Tuesday September 20th when host Porterville at 1 pm.
