W. Soccer Wins in Second Straight Shut Out

The MSJC women's soccer team blew a relatively close match wide open early in the second half to win easily at Grossmont on Tuesday 9-0.

The Eagles led 2-0 at halftime on goals from Leilani Aves and Belinda Jara.  MSJC then exploded for four goals in a 10 minute span that put the match well out of reach.  Karyme Mendoza scored the first of the Eagles seven second half goals in the 48th minute.  From there goals by Samantha Uribe 49th minute, Aves 56th minute, and Nadia Dogan 58th minutes made it 6-0.

MSJC would go on to add three more late in the second as Aaliyah Sims scored in the 75th minute, Avril Martinez in the 83rd, and Jara topped off her outstanding performance with a goal in the 85th.

When it was all said and done, Jara finished the day with 2 goals and 4 assists while Mendoza and Dogan each scored a goal and had an assist.  Ashlyn Goade played the first half in goal for the Eagles and made one save, Daisy Reyes was in the net for the second half and also recorded one save.

MSJC is now 2-0 and travel to Long Beach City on Friday.  Friday's match at Long Beach City kicks off at 5pm, the Eagles return home on Tuesday September 5th when they host Santa Ana at 3 pm.
