Soccer Team Wins Two More, Shut Out Palomar & Porterville

The MSJC soccer team won at home Friday over Palomar and then went on the road to pick up a victory over Porterville on Tuesday.

The Eagles earned a shut out win against Palomar Friday in Menifee.  MSJC scored a pair of goals in the first half and then their defense took over as they blanked the Comets 2-0.  Karyme Mendoza scored the first goal of the match in the 17th minute off and assist from Samantha Uribe.  Then in the 45th minute, just before halftime, Mendoza got a rebound off a shot from Belinda Jara and knocked it in to score the Eagles second goal.  Ashlyn Goade made 2 saves and played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles.

Tuesday MSJC traveled to Porterville and dominated the match from the out set as they defeated the Pirates 12-0.  The Eagles scored five goals in the first half, with five different players finding the back of the net.  MSJC would go on to add seven goals in the second half.  Leilani Aves, Kate Claborn, and Jara each scored two goals for MSJC, with Jara adding a match high 3 assists.  Kayla Garcia, Stephanie Kenner, and Alexis Salgado all had two assists in the victory.  The trio of Daisy Reyes, Madison Claborn, and Goad each played 30 scoreless minutes in goal for the Eagles.

MSJC is now 5-1 on the season and have a week off, before returning to action on Friday September 22nd when they host Rio Hondo College at 6 pm at the Stadium in Menifee.
