
The MSJC women's soccer team played their final two non-conference matches of the season this week and came away with a pair of draws.
The Eagles traveled to Cerritos College on Friday September 27th and came away with a 1-1 tie against the Falcons. MSJC scored the day's first goal in the 22nd minute when Haylee Chilton found the back of the net for the second time this season with an assist from Lorena Gonzalez. Cerritos found the game tying goal in the 22nd minute and then both teams' defenses took over. Daisy Reyes played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles making 6 saves.
Tuesday MSJC hosted El Camino at HCN Bank in Menifee and again played to a tie with the match ending 2-2. The Eagles scored first to take an early lead when Gonzalez scored unassisted in the 8th minute to make it 1-0. El Camino would score in the 31st minute to even the match before halftime, and then go ahead in the 57th minute with their second straight goal. The Eagles scored the equalizer in the 89th minute on an unassisted goal by Ava Berger. Reyes played the first half in goal for the Eagles making 4 saves, Ashlyn Goade replaced her in the second and made one additional save.
The Eagles, who are now 4-2-5 on the season, will open Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Friday when they host College of the Desert at HCN Bank Stadium. Friday's kick-off is set for 4 pm.
