MSJC Soccer Wraps Up Regular Season, Await Play-off Pairings

The MSJC soccer team played their final three matches of the regular season and now await word on the 3C2A Regional play-off pairings this weekend.

The Eagles dropped a 3-0 decision last week to co-conference champion Chaffey College in a match played in Rancho Cucamonga. MSJC bounced back with an exciting 3-2 victory at San Bernardino Valley. MSJC took a first half lead on an unassisted goal by Nathali Gasca in the 21st minute. Ava Berger added a goal in the 79th minute before things got exciting in the late stages of the match. SBVC tied the match in extra time at 2-2, but the Eagles answered with a goal in extra time of their own for the victory. Marlene Mateo scored the match winner with an assist from Gasca.

MSJC played their final match of the regular season on Tuesday against San Diego Miramar. The Eagles fell behind 1-0 at halftime on their way to a 4-1 loss. Maggie Arens scored the team's only goal of the day with an assist by Gasca in the 47th minute.

The Eagles finished the regular season with a record of 10-7-5, they are expected to be in the field when the play-off bracket is announced. MSJC is expected to play an opening round match on the road Wednesday November 20th.
