The MSJC women's tennis team has improved their winning streak to five matches and have moved into a tie for first place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

The Eagles picked up a 7-2 win over Southwestern on March 7th and a 9-0 win over Imperial Valley on March 14th, but the big win came in between those matches as they out lasted previously unbeaten Grossmont 5-4 on March 12th.

The Grossmont victory avenged the Eagles only conference loss of the season and the head to head battle came down to the very end.  Emmy Giron and Breannah Baron picked up an 8-1 win at #1 doubles, but the Eagles trailed 2-1 headed to singles.

In the singles competition Giron picked up a 6-3. 6-1 win at #1 while Trinity Anderson and Baron both also won in straight sets at numbers 3 and 4 setting up the deciding match at #6.  Sharon Aguilar took the early lead in her number 6 match as she won the first set 7-5, before falling 0-6 in the second to send the match into the third.  The third set was a battle, but Aguilar finally came out on top 7-6 (13-11) in the 10 point tie breaker to give the Eagles the team victory.

The win propelled the Eagles into a virtual first place tie with San Diego City in the PCAC standings at 5-1, the Knights are 4-1.  MSJC is 6-3 overall on the season and will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to San Diego City for a key PCAC match up.  Thursday's match is set for 2 pm.  The Eagles will wrap up the regular season with a pair of home matches as they take on Paradise Valley in a non-conference match Saturday and then host Southwestern on March 26th.
