Eagle Volleyball Splits Pair of Matches at Home

The MSJC women's volleyball team split two matches in their home gym on Friday as the defeated Mt. SAC and lost to Grossmont.

The Eagles opened the day on Friday with a 3-0 sweep of Mt. SAC.  MSJC took the first set 25-17 and then went on to win the second and third sets by identical 25-22 scores.  Allison Rozell led the offensive attack at the net with 10 kills while Makenzie Nutting added 8 and Faith Galvan had 6.  Setter Jacquline Barbosa had a match high 32 assists and on defense Keona Escorpiso had a team best 14 digs, while Galvan picked up 13.  

In their second match of the day the Eagles ran into a hot Grossmont team who won the first set 25-17 and then went on to sweep MSJC with wins in the second and third 25-10 and 25-12.  Nutting led the team in kills with 6, while Barbosa had 14 assists and a team high 7 digs.

The Eagles are now 2-6 on the season and will be back in action with three matches next week.  MSJC will travel to Santiago Canyon on Wednesday for a 5 pm contest and then take part in the Riverside City Quad on Friday.  Friday the Eagles will play against Glendale Arizona at 10 am and then take on Riverside at 2.
