Eagle Volleyball Picks Up Key Home Win

The MSJC women's volleyball team won a key Inland Empire Athletic Conference match on Friday as they defeated visiting College of the Desert in straight sets.

The Eagles and the Roadrunners slugged it out in the opening set with MSJC finally coming away with a 29-27 victory.  The Eagles took control of the second set early on their way to a 25-18 win and then finished the night off with a 25-22 win in the third.

Makenzie Nutting led the offensive charge for MSJC with a match high 16 kills while teammate Faith Galvan added 9.  Jacquline Barbosa had a solid night as well as she had 38 assists and also came up big on defense with 8 digs, 1 solo block, and a pair of block assists.  Keona Escorpiso picked up a team high 15 digs on the night and Gavlan added 11.

The win keeps the Eagles unbeaten in IEAC play at 2-0 and improves their season record to 7-8, Desert fell to 1-1 in league play and 8-8 overall.  Friday's win sets up a big match for MSJC on Wednesday when they host Chaffey College at 5 pm.  Chaffey will enter Wednesday night's match with a 3-0 record in the IEAC and an overall mark of 16-1, they are currently ranked #13 in the State.
