The MSJC women's volleyball team continued their late season surge Thursday and Friday as they capped off a 3-0 week with sweeps of both San Bernardino Valley and Victor Valley.

On Thursday the Eagles made up an earlier postponed match with San Bernardino Valley and won in straight sets; 25-9, 25-22, and 25-16.  The dominating performance was highlighted by 11 kills from Faith Galvan and 9 from Makenzie Nutting, Allison Rozell chipped in with 8 to lead the offense.  Jacquline Barbosa handed out a match high 33 assists and on defense Keona Escorpiso had a team high 13 digs.  Nutting added 4 block assists on defense and Olivia Elliot had 3.

Friday night the Eagles celebrated Sophomore Night as they honored; Elliot, Galvan, and Jillian Soma for their contributions to the program.  The team did not disappoint as they swept visiting Victor Valley by scores of 25-11, 25-17, and 25-14. Nutting was the offensive leader this time as she hammered down 12 kills while Rozell and Galvan had 8 a piece.  Barbosa dished out 26 assists and Escorpiso again led on the defensive side of the net with 15 digs.  Soma contributed to the defensive effort as well picking up 11 digs.

The two wins finished off a big week in which the Eagles kept themselves in the title race in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.   MSJC is now 12-10 overall and 7-2 in IEAC matches.  The Eagles wrap up the regular season on Wednesday with a 4 pm home match against Cerro Coso.  Currently the Eagles are one game behind first place College of the Desert and tied with Chaffey, those two teams square off in a huge match Wednesday at Chaffey.  If the Eagles are able to win Wednesday and Chaffey is able to beat Desert, there would be a three way tie for the top spot in the league, if Desert wins they will claim the title out right.
