
The MSJC women's volleyball team had an impressive close to their season, winning 10 of their final 13 matches, but it came to an end on Saturday night with a 3-0 loss to Goldenwest in the opening round of the CCCAA play-offs.
The Eagles and the Rustlers seemed pretty evenly matched throughout the night, but MSJC could not quite get over the hump as they lost in three straight by scores of; 25-22, 25-22, and 25-21. The Eagles headed into the play-offs after capturing the program's first ever conference title and will end the season with an overall record of 13-11.
Saturday night Makenzie Nutting led the Eagle offense with 10 kills she was followed by Faith Galvan with 8. Jacquline Barbosa had 29 assists on the evening while Galvan had a match high 13 digs. Keona Escorpiso also was solid on defense with 12 digs, while the MSJC defense at the net was led by 8 block assists from Olivia Elliot and 7 from Nutting.
The Eagles were making their third play-off appearance in program history, with all three trips coming over the past four seasons. MSJC has also posted a winning record in five of their last six seasons.
