Eagle Volleyball Sweeps Two More Matches to Stay Unbeaten in IEAC

The MSJC volleyball team continued their winning ways this past week as they picked up a pair of wins over San Bernardino Valley and Chaffey.

Wednesday night the Eagles traveled to San Bernardino where they defeated the Wolverines in straight sets by scores of 25-8, 25-15, and 28-26.  Luci Villafana and Ruby Ruiz each had 11 kills in the victory while Aleya Starnes added five.  Alex Sotello had 20 of her team's 29 assists while on defense Ruiz had a team best 14 digs and Audrey Underwood had two solo blocks and a block assist.

On Friday night MSJC kept it rolling as they picked up a 3-0 home win over visiting Chaffey.  The Eagles this time won by scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-23.  Ruiz once again led the offense with 11 kills while Villafana had 9 and Starnes had 8.  Grace Tapia added 7 kills and Chanelle Ongchangco had 6.  Sotello this time had an impressive 35 assists.  On defense Ruiz picked up 19 digs while Kayla Thompson had 15.

The wins pushed the Eagles win streak to five as they improved their overall record to 12-4 on the year, MSJC is a perfect 5-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  This week the Eagles have just one match on the schedule as they will host Barstow at 5 pm on Friday.
