
The MSJC volleyball team made quick work of Copper Mountain on Friday in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference match up, and then struggled on the road at Saddleback in a non-conference match Wednesday.
Friday the Eagles quickly dispatched of the Fighting Cacti with set wins of 25-11, 25-7, and 25-12. Brooklynn Thomas led a balanced offensive attack with 8 kills as 10 different Eagles recorded at least one in the victory. Trysta Vincelli passed out 19 assists while on defense Laelanie Isbell had 8 digs. The win over Copper Mountain kept MSJC just one loss behind College of the Desert in the IEAC standings as they improved to 4-1 in league contests.
Wednesday the Eagles stepped out of IEAC action to take on Saddleback College and came up on the short end of a well contested match in three sets. The Bobcats defeated MSJC 25-20, 26-24, and 25-20. Mckenna Conklin knocked down a team best 7 kills for the Eagles, Thomas was next with 6. Thomas also had a team high 14 digs in the loss.
The Eagles now stand at 11-9 overall on the season, they return to IEAC action on Friday when they host Victor Valley College at 5 pm.
