MSJC Defeats Citrus, Head into IEAC at 11-4

The MSJC volleyball team overcame a tough environment on Friday night to come away with a five set victory over Citrus on the road.

The Eagles won the first set 25-22, but the Owls answered in the second as they came back to win by the same score to even the match.  MSJC would take the third set 25-18, before once again Citrus answered this time with a dominating performance in the fourth set as they won 7-25.  The Eagles dug deep in the fifth to pull out the win 15-12 and bring home the match victory.

Megan Gajda and Brooklynn Thomas had big nights as they knocked down 16 and 13 kills, Gajda also had a team high 13 digs and had 6 service aces.  Trysta Vincelli had 30 assists in the win while Lauren Cummings had a solo block and a pair of block assists.

The Eagles ended the non-conference portion of their schedule on a good run as they have now won 10 of their last 11 matches.  MSJC will begin Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Wednesday when they host College of the Desert at 5 pm on the San Jacinto Campus.
