Eagles Open IEAC With Sweep of Desert

The MSJC volleyball team got off to a fast start in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night as they swept visiting College of the Desert.

The Eagles swept the Roadrunners by scores of; 25-18, 27-25, and 25-17 to win for 11th time in their last 12 matches and start conference play at 1-0.  Brooklynn Thomas led the offensive charge with 13 kills for MSJC, she recieved help from Megan Gajda and Carley Kruse who recorded 10 and 8 kills in the win.  The combination of Trysta Vincelli and Kalia Anady at setter produced 31 of the team's 37 assists in the match with Vincelli credited with 18 while Anady had 13.  

Brooklyn Jimenez led the defensive effort with 12 digs, Gajda had 10 and Thomas picked up 9.  Kruse had a solo block and a block assist to lead the net defense.

The Eagles are now 12-4 overall on the season and 1-0 i n the IEAC, they will play their next three matches on the road, before returning home for a noon match against Chaffey on Friday October 13th.
