The MSJC volleyball team won three matches over the past two days as they defeated Riverside, San Diego Miramar, and East Los Angeles all at home.
Tuesday night the Eagles defeated Riverside City College 3-1 as they jumped ahead two sets to zero, before dropping the third and responding to win a tight fourth set to earn the victory. MSJC opened with wins of 25-19 and 25-17, RCC took the third 22-25 and the Eagles closed out the match 28-26. Megan Gajda had a match high 17 kills in the victory, she also picked up 9 digs. Josephine Springer was also solid on both sides of the net as she recorded 15 kills and 14 digs. Brooklyn Jimenez had a team high 17 digs on defense and Kalia Anady passed out a team high 23 assists.
Wednesday the Eagles earned a pair of sweeps as they defeated San Diego Miramar and East LA. In their first match of the day MSJC beat Miramar 25-18, 28-26, and 25-10. Gajda and Springer again led the attack at the net with 10 and 9 kills. Audrey Franks and Hailey Frary both knocked down 4 kills a piece, while Anady had a match best 17 assists. In their second match of the day the Eagles won easily against East LA 25-18, 25-16, and 25-11. Fifteen Eagles saw action in the match with Gajda once again leading the team in kills with 13, Springer added 10, and Franks knocked down 7. Jade Tolliver had a team high 14 assists and Jimenez had a match high 15 digs for MSJC.
The Eagles, who have now won 5 of their last 6 matches, stand at 6-5 on the season. MSJC will travel to Santa Clarita on Friday to take on College of the Canyons at 5 pm, the Eagles next home match is Wednesday September 18th when they host Long Beach City at 6 pm in San Jacinto.
