The MSJC volleyball team has played a tough schedule all non-conference season long and that continued with their last two matches as they fell on the road to #25 ranked Canyons and at home to #7 Long Beach City.

Friday night MSJC traveled to Santa Clarita to take on College of the Canyons and came away being swept by the Cougars 18-25, 24-26, and 20-25.  The Eagles were highly competitive in the match but could never come up with the big point in any set to shift the momentum.  Megan Gajda led the offensive attack with 13 kills while both Josephine Springer and Audrey Franks had 6 apiece.  On defense MSJC was led by 12 digs from Brooklyn Jimenez and 4 block assists by Lorena Lopez.

Wednesday night the Eagles hosted unbeaten and #7 ranked Long Beach City and gave a great effort in the opening two sets before eventually losing in three 22-25, 22-25, and 14-25.  Gajda had a team high 9 kills while Kalia Anady passed out a team best 8 assists.  Jimenez (13), Springer (12), and Anady (10) all reached double figures in digs while at the net Hailey Frary had 3 block assists.

The Eagles are now 6-7 on the season and will travel to Mt. SAC on Friday for a 5 pm tilt in their final non-conference match of the year.  Next week MSJC will begin play in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference when they travel to College of the Desert on Friday September 27th.
