MSJC Volleyball Wins Key IEAC Match

The MSJC volleyball team played one of their best matches of the season on Wednesday night and it came at an important time as they defeated visiting San Bernardino Valley 3-1 in a key conference match up.

The Eagles improved to 2-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play with the win while giving the Wolverines their first loss.  In the opening set the Eagles won a back-and-forth contest 25-23 to gain the early edge.  SBVC would take the second 25-20, before MSJC wrapped the match up with close wins in the third (25-23) and fourth (25-22) sets.

Josephine Springer had a big night for the Eagles as she knocked down a team high 18 kills while also picking up a team best 17 digs on defense.  Megan Gajda was also strong on both sides of the net as she made 14 kills and had 11 digs.  MSJC also received solid performances from their setters as Kalia Anady passed out 20 assists and Amari Ramirez dished out 15.  The defense was bolstered by a season high 20 block assists with Hailey Frary leading the way with 5.  Gajda, Audrey Franks, and Lorena Lopez each contributed 3 block assists and Brooklyn Jimenez picked up 12 digs.

The win evened MSJC's overall record on the season at 8-8 and gave them sole possession of first place in the IEAC at 2-0.

Friday's match with Copper Mountain that was originally scheduled to be played in Joshua Tree has been moved to San Jacinto.  The two teams will now play in Joshua Tree on October 30th.  Friday's match will begin at 5 pm.
