Midway through the eight-game pro-set, the Eagle doubles team was ahead four games to three. However, a barrage of heavy kick-serves from San Diego City proved to be the difference as the visitors rallied back to win 8-4.
In #1 singles play, Gibson battled City's Brian Espinoza Castro in a very tight match featuring many hard-fought rallies. Gibson's commanding serve kept Castro off-balance throughout the contest. In this very well-played, back-and-forth duel, Castro edged Gibson by a score of 6-4, 6-3.
