SB: MSJC Sweeps San Diego City at Home

The MSJC softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep of San Diego City on Saturday as they defeated the Knights 9-2 and 6-1 in Menifee.

The Eagles and the Knights both scored two runs in the first inning of game one Saturday, before MSJC pulled away for the 9-2 victory.  Bailey Heuer had a big game for MSJC as she went 3 for 3 and knocked home three runs in the victory.  Mariah Forgerson-McCoy had two hits including a bases loaded double that cleared the bases.  Carolina Blanco and Madison Morris both had 2 hits a piece with Morris picking up an RBI.  Stephanie Wagner made the pitching start for the Eagles and earned the win as she went 5 innings allowing just two runs, Katryna Detert pitched the final two innings without allowing a run or a hit by the Knights.

In game two MSJC had a five run second inning to take control of the contest and won 6-1.  In the bottom of the 2nd the Eagles got on the scoreboard on a wild pitch and then the offense erupted with a pair of run scoring doubles by Laila Andrade and Natalie Juarez, Juarez's knocked in two.  Annalie Castanon added on an RBI single before the inning was over.  Morris would add the final run for the Eagles with an RBI ground out in the 6th.  Marissa Sanchez had a strong game in the circle as she went the distance holding the Knights to just one unearned run in 7 innings of work, she struck out 4.

MSJC is now 5-3 on the season and will return to action on Tuesday when they host Palomar at 2:30 on the Menifee Campus.
