The MSJC softball team opened conference play on Friday and came away with a pair of road wins as they swept a doubleheader at San Bernardino Valley.

The Eagles scored 5 runs in the top of the third inning in game one to pull away from the Wolverines for a 7-3 victory.  Natalie Juarez had a pair of RBIs in the game and knocked home the first run of the third inning with her second sacrifice fly of the game.  That was followed by a Katryna Detert RBI single, a Bailey Heuer RBI double, and a two run single from Marissa Sanchez that put MSJC in command of the game 6-0.  Trinity Robinson was the winning pitcher as she allowed just 3 unearned runs in the game while going the distance and striking out two.

In game two the Eagles had to come from behind as they trailed 3-1 after five innings, before rallying for two runs in both the top of the 6th and top of the 7th to pull out the 5-3 victory.  Madison Morris had a big two run double in the 6th to tie the game at 3-3, and then in the 7th an RBI ground out by Heuer put the Eagles ahead 4-3.  Morris would add an insurance run with an RBI single to push the lead to two.  Stephanie Wagner won her fourth game of the season in the circle as she went all 7 innings allowing 2 earned runs and striking out 3.

The Eagles are now 8-6 on the season and 2-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.  MSJC will travel to Grossmont for a make-up doubleheader on Tuesday at noon and 2, before returning to conference play on Friday when they host College of the Desert in a doubleheader.  Friday's games at Menifee are scheduled for noon and 2 as well.
