The MSJC women's basketball team took advantage of a fast start on Saturday afternoon as they went on the road to pick up an Inland Empire Athletic Conference victory 63-41 over Chaffey.
The Eagles jumped out to a lead of 22-9 after the first quarter and went on to out score the Panthers in each of the next three periods to pick up the win. Haylei Janssens had a double double in the victory as she scored a game high 22 points and pulled in a game best 18 rebounds, she was particularly strong in the first half as she went into the locker room with 16 and 14. Deja Blue added 10 points, 4 steals, and a pair of assists and Diamonere Butler came off the bench to grab 7 rebounds. The Eagles managed to get off 37 more field goal attempts than the Panthers as they turned the ball over just 7 times on the afternoon compared to 28 to's by Chaffey. MSJC also held the advantage on the glass as they out rebounded the Panthers 52-41 and had 30 offensive boards.
The win was the Eagles 15th in a row and improved their overall record to 16-2 on the season, they are 4-0 in conference action, while Chaffey fell to 7-11 overall and 2-1 in IEAC play. MSJC plays just one time this week as they host College of the Desert on Wednesday night. Wednesday night's game will tip off at 5 pm and is part of a doubleheader with the MSJC men's team.
