Fast Start Leads MSJC Women to IEAC Home Win

The MSJC women's basketball team raced out of the gates on Wednesday night as they won an Inland Empire Athletic Conference contest over visiting Palo Verde 99-30.

The Eagles built a lead of 36-4 after the opening period and increased that lead all the way to 59-9 by halftime.  MSJC used a balanced and efficient offense to close out the game in the second half.

Five MSJC players reached double figures in scoring led by the trio of Sandee Heiermann, Alexus Williams, and Jheisymae Artagame who each had 16 in the victory.  Williams was a perfect 8 for 8 from the field.  Rayven Crook added 13 and Valeria Brewer had 12.  Maliyah Bosley led the way on the boards as she grabbed a game high 10 rebounds while Brewer dished out a career high 11 assists for MSJC.  Monica Malone contributed with a solid stat line as she scored 9 points, pulled in 7 rebounds, made 6 assists, and came up with 4 steals.

The win improves the Eagles overall season mark to 14-2, they are now 2-0 in the IEAC.  The team will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to San Bernardino Valley for a 1 pm game, the Eagles return home next Wednesday at 5 pm to host Copper Mountain.
