WBB: Eagles Pick Up IEAC Home Win Over Chaffey

The MSJC women's basketball team shook off a slow start on Wednesday night to defeat visiting Chaffey College 81-64 in an Inland Empire Athletic Conference game.

The Eagles led by just three at the end of the first period 19-16, but were able to put together a 19-2 run in the final 7 minutes of the half to pull away to a 44-26 lead by the break.  The Panthers would get the game as close as 10 in the second half, but the Eagles held on down the stretch to earn the victory.  

Three Eagles scored in double figures led led by 25 points from Jana Roman.  Roman also pulled in a game high 18 rebounds for MSJC to complete her third straight double double.  Sandee Heiermann added 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Rayven Crook had 17 points, 14 in the second half to help put the game away.  

The win improves MSJC's overall record to 18-2, they are 6-0 in IEAC action.  The Eagles will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Barstow for a 1 pm game against the Vikings, MSJC returns home next Wednesday January 25th to take on Victor Valley at 5 pm.  Both games will be followed by the MSJC men's team.
