Women's Basketball Defeats Victor Valley to Earn 20th Win of the Season

The MSJC women's basketball team came up with a key Inland Empire Athletic Conference win on Wednesday night as they defeated Victor Valley 74-56 to earn their 20th win of the season.

The Eagles opened up a close game in the second quarter as they outscored the Rams 19-10 to grab a halftime lead of 34-23.  Victor Valley crept closer in the third as they got within two points of MSJC at 44-42.  MSJC found their footing and went on a 6-2 run late in the third to head into the fourth period with a 50-44 advantage.  The Eagles then put the Rams away in the final 10 minutes and went on to earn the victory.

Sandee Heiermann led all scorers in the game as she scored 23 points, she also pulled down 15 rebounds and had 5 assists.  Jana Roman also recorded a double double for the Eagles, her 6th straight, as she scored 12 points and grabbed a game high 18 rebounds.  Rayven Crook helped MSJC pull away down the stretch as she scored 13 of her 15 points in the second half.  Valeria Brewer came off the bench to make a big contribution as she added 13 points and 8 rebounds.

The win gives the Eagles an overall record of 20-2 on the season, they are now 8-0 in the IEAC.  The win secured the program's 16th straight 20 win season.  Victor Valley fell to 15-8 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

MSJC is back in action Saturday when they travel to Palo Verde for a 1 pm game.  The Eagles return home on Wednesday to take on San Bernardino Valley at 5, both upcoming games will be followed by a men's contest.
