WBB: Eagles Win Big on the Road at Copper Mountain

The MSJC women's basketball team scored the first 16 points of the game and jumped out to a 24-1 lead Wednesday as they went on the road and defeated Copper Mountain 89-28.

The Eagles fast start was fueled by some hot shooting as Sandee Heiermann, Jheisymae Artagame, and Valeria Brewer all made two three pointers in the first 12 minutes of the contest.  MSJC led 49-14 at halftime and then came out of the locker room and scored the first 23 points of the second half, shutting out the Fighting Cacti in the third period.

Heiermann ended her night with a game high 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.  Jana Roman notched another double double as she scored 12 points and grabbed a game high 14 rebounds, Alexus Williams just missed her double double with 14 points and 9 boards.  Maliyah Bosley added 13 points and 7 rebounds as all nine Eagles that played in the game scored.  MSJC also shared the ball well as they collected 24 assists on 37 made baskets, Brewer dished out 7 of them and Shyann Morreo had 5.  The Eagles also out rebounded CMC 58-26.

The win improves the Eagles to 23-2 overall on the season and 11-0 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference Copper Mountain fell to 6-5 in the league.  MSJC returns to action on Saturday when they host College of the Desert in a 1 pm game which will be followed by a men's game at 3.
