WBB: Eagles Clinch Fifth Straight Conference Title

The MSJC women's basketball team got a career performance from Sandee Heiermann on Saturday as the Eagles cruised past Desert 89-19 to clinch their fifth straight conference championship.

The Eagles jumped out to a 16-0 lead and pushed that to 27-5 after the first period, before going on to lead 50-8 at the half.  Sandee Heiermann filled the stat sheet as she recorded the program's first quadruple double.  She finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals to lead the way for MSJC.  When the game was over the Eagles had a 53-23 rebounding advantage and all nine MSJC players who played in the game had at least 5 points.

Jheisymae Artagame led in scoring for the Eagles as she scored 16, Valeria Brewer added 15, and Jana Roman just missed a double double with 12 points and 9 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action.

The win gives MSJC their fifth straight conference title, and their 8th in the past 10 seasons.  This year's team now stands at 24-2 overall and 12-0 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.  The Eagles have two games remaining in the regular season.  Wednesday MSJC will travel to Chaffey and Friday the Eagles will host Barstow, both games are set to begin at 5 pm.  Friday the Eagles will celebrate their 2023 Sophomore class prior to the game.
