WBB: Eagles Move to 8-2 With Three Wins

The MSJC women's basketball picked up three wins this week as they went on the road to defeat Grossmont and then won a pair of games at the Rams Crossover in Victorville.

The Eagles started the week by traveling to El Cajon where they beat Grossmont 72-32.  MSJC jumped out to a 37-17 halftime lead and then cruised home to victory.  Drasoni Kyles led a balanced offensive attack with a game high 19 points, she also had 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.  Natalie Derla added 16 points while Breyonna Bell had 10 points and 8 rebounds.  Jana Roman just missed a double double with 8 points and a game high 12 boards.

Friday MSJC traveled to Victorville, where they had to fight back from a double digit deficit to defeat Antelope Valley 80-69.  The Eagles struggled in the first half and trailed by 14 at the half, before storming back to for the victory.  Derla had a team high 16 points in the win, she also pulled in 5 rebounds.  Lauren Pagtakhan added 14 points, Valeria Brewer had 13, and Bell added 12.  Roman once again came up just short of a double double this time with 12 points and 8 rebounds.

The Eagles capped their busy week on Saturday with a 66-50 win over Santa Barbara.  MSJC started quick taking a 21-11 lead after the opening quarter, they pushed the advantage to 36-22 by half.  MSJC once again had a balanced offensive attack as Roman, Bell, and Brewer each scored 14 points.  Roman added 8 rebounds and 4 steals.

MSJC is now 8-2 on the season and will return to action this week with a pair of road games.  Wednesday afternoon the Eagles will play at San Diego Mesa, tip-off is set for 3 pm.  Saturday MSJC will travel to Chaffey for a 1 pm non-conference tilt.
