The MSJC women's basketball team didn't play their best game of the season on Saturday, but they held on to pick up an Inland Empire Athletic Conference win on the road at Chaffey 53-49.

The Eagle offense was sluggish for most of the game, but their defensive effort kept them in the contest throughout.  MSJC built leads of 4 at the half and 6 after three quarters, but Chaffey rallied to take a brief lead in the fourth.  MSJC finally took the lead for good on a lay-up by Alaysia Kidwell with 2:28 remaining in the game.  Jana Roman extended the lead to three a minute later when she hit a free throw line jump shot to make the score 50-47, and despite poor free throw shooting (7-14), the Eagles held off the Panthers over the final minute.

Roman had her tenth double double of the season as she recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds in the victory.  Kidwell just missed out on her double double as she scored 9 points and grabbed a team best 11 boards.  Drasoni Kyles also had 9 points for MSJC while Breyonna Bell, Natalie Derla, and Valeria Brewer each scored 7.

The win improves the Eagles overall record on the season to 18-3, they are 3-0 in IEAC games.  MSJC will be at home twice this week as they host San Bernardino Valley on Wednesday at 5 pm and Victor Valley on Saturday at 1.  Both games will be followed by an Eagle men's game.
