10th Ranked WBB Team Wins Big Over SBVC

The MSJC women's basketball team stayed unbeaten in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night as they easily defeated visiting San Bernardino Valley 84-41.

The Eagles held the Wolverines to three field goals in the opening quarter as they built a lead of 23-10 after the first 10 minutes and would go on to lead 45-22 at the half.  MSJC took care of the ball only turning it over 10 times compared to 21 by SBVC and shared it well as they totaled 18 assists on 34 made baskets in the contest.

Breyonna Bell continued to be a force for the Eagles as she scored a game high 23 points, she also grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out a game best 5 assists, and made a game high 6 steals.  Jana Roman had her 11th double double of the season scoring 12 points and pulling in 14 rebounds in just 27 minutes of action.  Valeria Brewer and Natalie Derla both also reached double figures in scoring with 15 and 11.  Alaysia Kidwell added 8 points and 9 boards, Vika Afungia came off the bench to score 7.

The Eagles improved to 19-3 overall and 4-0 in conference play with the win.  MSJC is now set for a showdown on Saturday against Victor Valley, who also comes into the contest unbeaten in the IEAC.  The two teams met in a non-conference game December 23rd with MSJC pulling out a close victory 63-61.  Saturday's game will tip-off at 1 pm.
