The MSJC women's basketball team picked up a key victory in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference race on Saturday as they defeated visiting Victor Valley 79-64.

Both the Eagles and the Rams came into the contest unbeaten in IEAC play and the Rams jumped out of the gates to grab a 7-0 lead.  MSJC would respond by settling in and out scoring VVC 25-10 the rest of the opening period to lead 25-17 after one.  MSJC would lead 42-32 by half and slowly pull away in the fourth quarter for the win.

Valeria Brewer had a career high 30 points for MSJC to lead the offensive charge, Breyonna Bell continued her strong play on the year as she added 24 points and a game high 5 assists.  Natalie Derla also reached double figures with 10 points, while grabbing 8 rebounds.

The Eagles, who officially picked up another forfeit win from College of the Desert as well, are now 21-3 on the season and 6-0 in IEAC games.  Victor Valley fell to 19-6 overall and 6-1 in league play.  The women's team has now won at least 21 games for 17 straight seasons.  The Eagles have four regular season games remaining starting on Saturday when they host Palo Verde at 1 pm.
