WBB: Eagles Win Two, Clinch 6th Straight Conference Title

The MSJC women's basketball team improved to 9-0 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play last week as they defeated Chaffey and San Bernardino Valley to claim at least a share of their sixth straight conference championship.

Wednesday night the Eagles celebrated their 2024 sophomore class by defeating Chaffey 75-38 in their final regular season home game.  Valeria Brewer led a balanced offensive attack as she scored a game high 19 points.  Breyonna Bell added 14 points to go along with 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals as the Eagles built a comfortable 37-19 lead by halftime.  Lauren Pagtakhan and Vika Afungia came off the bench to reach double figures with 14 and 10.  Jana Roman led the team with 11 rebounds in the win.  

Saturday MSJC traveled to San Bernardino Valley and after a bit of a slow start out scored the Wolverines 24-10 in the third quarter to pull away fo an 89-62 win.  The victory clinched at least a share of the 2024 IEAC championship as the Eagles moved to 9-0 in conference play with one game remaining.  Bell led the offense with 25 points, she also grabbed 8 rebounds, Roman just missed a double double with 12 points and 9 boards.  Pagtakhan added 12 points, Brewer had 10, and Afungia was solid with 8 points and 6 rebounds.

The Eagles who are now 24-3 overall have their final regular season game on Friday when they travel to Victor Valley.  VVC will come into the game with an 8-1 record in conference play, tip-off is set for 5 pm in Victorville.
