The MSJC volleyball team had an opportunity to move their way into a first place tie in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference standings on Friday, but came up short at College of the Desert.

The Eagles, who are the two time defending league champs, lost in three 17-25, 20-25, and 16-25.  The win for Desert all but clinches the IEAC title for the Roadrunners.  The match was competitive throughout, but MSJC could never quite get over the hump.  Brooklynn Thomas and Mckenna Conklin both had 8 kills a piece while Kennidy Martin knocked down 6 in the loss.  Trysta Vincelli and Alicia Vasquez split setting duties and came up with 14 and 11 assists.  On defense Thomas had 14 digs while Chloe Mata picked up 13, Martin had a solo block and a pair of block assists.

The loss drops MSJC to 14-11 overall on the season they are now 7-2 in IEAC matches, Desert improved to 8-0 in conference play.  The Eagles will host Copper Mountain on Wednesday in their final home match of the regular season.  MSJC will wrap up the regular season at El Camino on Monday November 14th in a non-conference match.

The Eagles will celebrate their 2022 Sophomore Class on Wednesday night prior to the match which is set to begin at 5 pm.
