Chris Mozga has been the Sports Information Officer at Mt. San Jacinto since the Spring of 2005.  He earned his Broadcasting Degree from Northwest Missouri State University in 1993 and has worked in various positions in the California Community College system since the Fall of 1996.

He also served as the women's head basketball coach for the Eagles from 2005-2023.

The 2022-23 season was Coach Chris Mozga’s 17th and final as the head coach of the MSJC women’s basketball program. Coach Mozga completed 24 seasons overall as a California Community College head coach, 18 in women’s basketball.


During his tenure at MSJC Mozga amassed an overall record of 418-105, his career record as a women’s head coach is 438-114, he also has 102 wins as a men’s coach at the community college level. The Eagles captured ten conference titles since 2007 earned eight league championships in the past ten seasons.  During the 21-22 season Mozga reached a pair of milestones as he earned his 500th career college coaching win and his 400th in women's basketball.


The Eagles qualified for the post season for 16 straight years and in 2018 won the school’s first ever team CCCAA State Championship when they defeated Merced in the title game and finished with a record of 32-2. The 32 wins also set a school record for a single season and was the program’s third 30 win season. The Eagles reached the State title game in 2013, but came up short finishing that season at 30-3 and the 2015-16 team that reached the State Elite Eight ended their season at 30-2. This past season (2022-23) the Eagles won the Inland Empire Athletic Conference and finished the season with a 27-3 overall record.  It was the program's fifth straight conference championship. The Eagles have averaged over 24 wins per season in Mozga's tenure and have a record over the past ten seasons of 265-44 overall and 107-10 in conference play.


Prior to his arrival at MSJC, Mozga spent six seasons as the head men's coach at College of the Desert. While at Desert Mozga's teams set (2001) and then tied (2005) the school record for victories at 26 while also winning the first conference title at the school since 1980, when they won it in 2001. Mozga guided the 2004-05 Roadrunner team to the Elite Eight of the State Tournament.


Mozga was named Conference Coach of the Year ten times and was named the State Coach of the Year twice, once each in men's (2005) and women's (2013) basketball. Mozga earned Foothill Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2001, 2005, 2007, 2010 and 2013 he was named the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2014, 2016, and 2019.  Mozga earned Inland Empire Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2020 and 2023.

Fourteen players earned Conference Player of the Year honors while playing for Mozga and 24 have earned All State recognition. Nearly 100 players have earned scholarships to four year schools after playing in Mozga's programs including over 60 since coming to MSJC. The Eagles class of 2018 set a program record with 9 players signing scholarships in a single year.


Mozga is a native of Des Moines, Iowa and a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University. He lives in Hemet with his wife Fontay. They have three children; Jason, Anton, and Krislyn.
