Coach Trent Skinner was named the head coach at Mt. San Jacinto College in the Spring of 2022,  after spending two seasons as the head coach at College of the Desert.  The Roadrunners posted a 30-26 record under coach Skinner’s leadership.  

Skinner spent nine years at MSJC prior to his stint at COD, and returned to the Eagle sidelines as the lead assistant during the 2021-22 season.

In his initial season as the permanent head coach at MSJC during the 2022-23 season Skinner led the Eagles to an impressive 23-6 record and a second place finish in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference.  MSJC qualified for the CCCAA Regional play-offs and picked up a first round victory over Cuesta, before seeing their season end in the Regional semi-finals.

He was the interim head coach for MSJC during the 2014-15 season in which the Eagles won the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference North Division title and finished the year with a 23-8 record and earned the #7 seed in the CCCAA Regional play-offs. At the conclusion of that season Skinner was named the co-coach of the year for the conference.

In the other nine seasons Skinner was on the staff at MSJC the team won four additional conference titles qualified for the post season each year and reached the State’s Elite Eight twice.

Prior to his arrival at Mt. San Jacinto Skinner spent one season as an assistant coach at Des Moines (IA) North High School where the Polar Bears were ranked in the top 10 in the Class 4-A rankings throughout the season.

Coach Skinner played at College of the Desert during the 1996-97 season in which the Roadrunners reached the CCCAA Regional play-offs. Following his one season as a member of the team, Skinner went on to serve four seasons as an assistant on the COD staff while completing his B.S. degree at Cal State San Bernardino. In Skinner’s four years as an assistant the Roadrunners reached the playoffs each season and in 2001 captured the school’s first men’s basketball conference championship since 1980.

Skinner was also named one of Silver Waves Media's Top 50 Most Impactful Coaches at the Community College level in 2021.

In addition to his B.S. from Cal State San Bernardino, Skinner also holds an A.A. degree from College of the Desert and a Masters of Arts in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University. Skinner, a native of Des Moines, Iowa and his wife April, have six children: Isaiah, Trinity, Quinton, Saylah, Xavery, and Lyric.
